Hip-Hop Star Soulja Boy Examines Crypto, Considers Creating His Own NFT Collectibles

Hip-Hop Star Soulja Boy Examines Crypto, Considers Creating His Own NFT Collectibles

On January 19, the American hip-hop star and rapper DeAndre Cortez Way, otherwise known as “Soulja Boy,” asked his 5.2 million Twitter followers to tell him the best way to purchase crypto. Following the initial tweet, Soulja Boy continued to discuss cryptocurrencies for the rest of the day, and also asked people’s opinions about the rapper creating his own crypto.

Another hip-hop artist is joining the cryptocurrency bandwagon after numerous rappers and musicians have been flocking toward the decentralized economy. DeAndre Cortez Way, known by his stage name “Soulja Boy,” discussed cryptocurrencies on Tuesday with his 5.2 million social media followers. Soulja Boy is best known for his track “Crank That,” a track that hit the number 1 Billboard spot in 2007. The song was also self-published on the internet beforehand and Soulja Boy got a lot of notoriety for the method of release.

Hip-Hop Star Soulja Boy Promotes Crypto, Considers Creating His Own NFT Collectibles

On Tuesday, Soulja Boy tweeted about cryptocurrencies to his followers seemingly looking for an avenue to purchase. “What’s the best way to buy Crypto? Robinhood? Coinbase?” the rapper asked his fans. Of course, a number of cryptocurrency proponents shilled their favorite exchanges during the Twitter conversation.

Following the tweet, a number of exchanges responded to Soulja Boy’s question as well and recommended that he use their trading platforms. The hip-hop star re-tweeted many of these recommendations from crypto firms like Binance U.S., Etoro, Blockchain.com, Cash App, Voyager, Okcoin, and others. “Just want to make sure I’m using the best platform while I’m in investing mode,” Soulja Boy added. Following the succession of crypto-related tweets, Soulja Boy then asked his fans about creating his own cryptocurrency. The rapper asked:

Thoughts on me creating my own crypto?

Of course, a number of people said it was a bad idea, while other digital currency supporters told Soulja Boy he should do it. One BCH supporter recommended that Soulja Boy leverage mint.Bitcoin.com in order to create a Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP) token built on top of Bitcoin Cash.

A few other people warned the rapper that he shouldn’t create his own coin due to the recent U.S. regulatory crackdown on initial coin offerings (ICOs) and unregistered securities lawsuits. “Don’t do it,” Neeraj K. Agrawal from the organization Coincenter tweeted. “You will get in trouble,” he added.

Moreover, other digital currency fans recommended that Soulja Boy should create a non-fungible token (NFT) series. Soulja, if you really wanna do something cool and not shallow or potentially drawing the attention of the SEC, drop some unique NFTs,” one user responded to the rapper’s question about starting his own crypto.

“Wow,” Soulja Boy responded. “That actually looks dope, anyone can assist me with this? I would like to release something as well.”

Bitcoin.com Wallet Adds Shareable Payment Link Feature – Send Bitcoin Cash to Anyone via Text, Email, and Social Media

10/12/2020 by Idelto Editor

At Bitcoin.com, our team is all about spreading the benefits of peer-to-peer electronic cash and our flagship wallet is a testament to our team’s passion. Bitcoin.com’s noncustodial crypto wallet recently upgraded and now offers a new payment link feature that allows anyone to send bitcoin cash by email, and even social apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Slack, Telegram, and Instagram.

Just recently the Bitcoin.com Wallet added a number of new features in the latest 6.10.3 version release. The Bitcoin.com Wallet is a noncustodial bitcoin cash (BCH) and bitcoin (BTC) client that also allows users to store SLP-based tether USDT stablecoins, and Simple Ledger Protocol tokens as well.

In the latest edition of the Bitcoin.com Wallet, our software development team has made it much easier to send transactions in a few different ways. On November 24, the BCH proponent David Bond (@hellodavidbond) tweeted about the Bitcoin.com Wallet’s new “Send Anywhere” feature.

“The Bitcoin.com Wallet now allows you to send [bitcoin cash] the same way you’d share a link, or meme. This is awesome,” Bond tweeted.

After depositing $2 worth of bitcoin cash into the wallet, I simply pressed send and the client allows you to choose the “shareable link” feature.

With the new Send Anywhere feature from the Bitcoin.com Wallet, sending BCH gifts during Christmas or during the Chinese New Year has never been easier. In order to leverage the new Send Anywhere feature, Bitcoin.com Wallet users need to upgrade to the latest 6.10.3 client version.

After depositing some funds into the BCH wallet, simply press “send” to create and send a shareable link. In addition to sending to any BCH wallet by scanning a QR code or sending to one of your own BCH wallets, the client offers a choice called: “shareable link.”

After selecting the shareable link feature, I simply pressed send all and continue and the wallet creates the URL link which can be shared with anyone and anywhere.

Following pressing the “shareable link” tab, the wallet directs you to the page where you enter the amount of bitcoin cash you want to send. With my test wallet containing $2 in bitcoin cash (BCH), I simply pressed “send all,” and pressed “continue” to finalize the transaction. After pressing “continue,” the Bitcoin.com Wallet will create a URL link with the bitcoin cash that can be sent using nearly any application on the web.

You can send the shareable link via text message, email, Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, Slack, Telegram, and basically anywhere you can share a link. Now, remember, you probably want to send the link privately, rather than sharing it in public, as anyone with access to the link can scan the funds.

The wallet allows you to interact with the various methods of sending whether it be on Telegram, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SMS text, and other online web portals and messaging apps.

After the creation of my $2 BCH payment link, the Bitcoin.com Wallet gave me a choice to send it via a myriad of applications on my device. Since this was only a test, I sent the bitcoin cash to myself via SMS text message, and instantly received the shareable link.

This is an example of the payment link that I sent to myself as an experiment via text message. In order for someone to access the funds, they simply need to scan the QR code using their Bitcoin.com Wallet. Of course, the link shown in this screenshot has been used when I finished this test.

Opening up my Bitcoin.com Wallet version 6.10.3, I selected the little scan QR icon on the top right-hand side of the application, which is located next to the notifications bell icon. I simply scanned the payment link’s QR code, and my $2 worth of bitcoin cash (BCH) was instantly added to my wallet.

Another cool thing about the Bitcoin.com Wallet’s Send Anywhere feature is that if the recipient does not deposit the funds, the user can simply reclaim the bitcoin cash any time they want.

The latest wallet version still gives users the ability to safely store multiple crypto assets including BCH and BTC, offers a portfolio breakdown, the ability to hold stablecoins, and the capacity to purchase and swap coins in a matter of minutes as well. With our secure and super fast Bitcoin.com Wallet, the latest Send Anywhere feature makes sending cryptocurrency to anyone worldwide extremely easy.

Bitcoin Cash-Fueled Onchain Social Media Platform Memo Launches iOS App

06/11/2020 by Idelto Editor

Bitcoin Cash-Fueled Onchain Social Media Platform Memo Launches iOS App

Two years ago, an onchain social network called memo.cash was launched and the application has developed quite a bit since then. On Tuesday, the Memo team revealed that the platform is now available for iOS phones via the App Store. Apple users can now connect to the social network that etches a user’s content to the Bitcoin Cash blockchain.

During the last few years, especially with deplatforming on the rise, uncensorable forums, immutable streaming video apps, and onchain social media projects have been developed. Worldwide governments in collaboration with Big Tech have managed to censor dissenting opinions against the status quo on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and more.

One particular decentralized application called memo.cash skips all that nonsense, as it allows users to post content to the BCH chain. Because nearly every action works by writing transactions to the BCH blockchain, the data stored allows for censorship-resistant social media in comparison to the platforms run by Big Tech giants.

The memo.cash application also works with the cryptocurrency bitcoinsv (BSV) as well.

On November 3, 2020, the Memo team announced that the application is now available via Apple’s App Store. This means anyone with an iPhone can download the onchain social media application that tethers content to a decentralized cryptocurrency network.

Memo works just like it does in a browser and users can simply register a new account or login with their existing credentials. In addition to leveraging the BCH chain, the memo.cash application also works with the cryptocurrency bitcoinsv (BSV).

Newcomers should understand that memo.cash needs a small fraction of bitcoin cash (BCH) in order to execute things like posting content or updating profiles. Users can leverage less than a nickel of BCH on memo.cash, by depositing the satoshis to the profile’s wallet address or even a small fraction of satoshis from a faucet.

Memo is similar to Twitter as it only allows for 217 characters in a given post. But just like Twitter, users can post not only threads but also videos, pictures, and URL links. Memo users can also start a poll with a variety of options. Unlike Twitter, which is well known in 2020 for blatant censorship, Memo app’s onchain content is immutable.

In addition to the posting abilities, users can also access a native wallet within the Memo app that allows users to send BCH and SLP tokens as well.

The main feed has a few different filters that allow Memo users to choose “hot” and “new” topics, alongside the ability to refresh the page in the top right corner of the screen. While memo.cash app newcomers will have to navigate and explore the onchain social media application, veteran Memo users will get the gist of the app much quicker.

Of course on Reddit, the new iOS mobile version of memo.cash was welcomed by the r/btc community. “Congrats Memo team,” one BCH proponent wrote on Tuesday, congratulating the developers.

SLP Trading Platform Cryptophyl Plans to Change Into a Noncustodial Defi Exchange

SLP Trading Platform Cryptophyl Plans to Change Into a Noncustodial Defi Exchange

The U.K.-based Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP) exchange Cryptophyl is closing its doors in order to restructure into a decentralized finance (defi) platform. Cryptophyl has revealed the trading platform will officially go offline on September 21 and is asking customers to withdraw before that period.

Just recently the SLP token trading platform Cryptophyl has revealed it will be shutting down in the near future. The website will be taken offline by September 21, 2020, which gives customers ten days to remove funds off the exchange. Maintaining Cryptophyl has been difficult the team notes in a recent blog post and it wants to shift to a noncustodial platform.

“Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult for us to maintain a consistent user experience,” the Cryptophyl closure announcement reads. “Maintaining our SLP token infrastructure has become a chore for the team and we’d prefer to focus our energy and resources on our up-coming non-custodial exchange, Detoken.”

News.Bitcoin.com reported on Cryptophyl’s idea to join forces with the Anyhedge project back in April. In the latest announcement, the developers mention the collaboration with the blockchain-enforced synthetic derivatives project for Bitcoin Cash. The announcement highlights that the Detoken launch will be around Q3 2020.

“Detoken will initially offer the first Decentralised Finance product built on Bitcoin Cash, in collaboration with General Protocols. Shortly after, SLP tokens will be added,” Cryptophyl said. The announcement further adds:

SLP tokens listed on Detoken can be traded directly out of your Detoken wallet, with no deposits or withdrawals. Trades are made with zero confirmations: this means no more waiting for the blockchain network to accept your transaction. SLP trading on Detoken will be done using atomic swaps, hence, the process is trust-less: you never need to trust either Detoken or the counterparty in your trade.

Defi has exploded on the Ethereum (ETH) network, and a number of other blockchain projects hope to compete with Ethereum’s lead. Back when news.Bitcoin.com discussed the defi project with the General Protocols team it said Anyhedge tools will be released for testing, alongside the Detoken launch.

Cryptophyl says that with the decentralized exchange (dex), users will “always be in control of their private keys on Detoken.” In addition, the firm also said that for a fee it will list any SLP token on the dex but it will go through a community inspection.

“In order to list a token, a straightforward due diligence criterion must be met, followed by a community vote,” the announcement concludes.

What do you think about Cryptophyl’s restructuring goals? Let us know what you think about this subject in the comments section below.

Bitcoin.com Wallet Reveals USDT Support – Users Can Swap and Store SLP-Based Tether

Bitcoin.com Wallet Reveals USDT Support - Users Can Swap and Store SLP-Based Tethers

During the first week of July, Bitcoin.com’s Wallet added a number of new features including a portfolio breakdown and honestcoin (USDH) swapping abilities. With the latest update this week, Bitcoin.com Wallet users can now store the SLP-based stablecoin tether (USDT) in their wallets as well.

Tether (USDT) is the most popular stablecoin in the crypto ecosystem to-date and Bitcoin.com Wallet users can now store, send, and receive the stablecoin at any time.

News.Bitcoin.com recently reported on how the firm Tether Limited utilized the Simple Ledger Protocol technology in order to issue over 6 million SLP-based USDT. Today there are 6,001,007 SLP-based tethers in circulation according to statistics provided by Simpleledger.info.

So similar to having the ability to hold any SLP token, the Bitcoin.com Wallet now allows users to store, send, and receive SLP-based tether (USDT). It is important to note that tether (USDT) is minted on a number of different blockchains. ETH-based tethers or other types of USDT coins not minted with the Simple Ledger Protocol, will not be compatible with the Bitcoin.com Wallet software.

The Bitcoin.com Wallet offers a method for people to obtain the SLP-based tethers by using the in-app swap features.

It’s worth noting that the sideshift.ai website is not available in certain countries including the U.S.

The Bitcoin.com Wallet allows users to swap coins by leveraging the Sideshift.ai application. The process is intuitive and it only takes a few minutes to swap coins using Bitcoin.com’s client. Users can swap bitcoin cash (BCH), bitcoin (BTC), honestcoin (USDH), and tether (USDT) using the wallet software.

In order to swap bitcoin cash for SLP-based tethers, simply tap the “swap” button on the bottom of the wallet’s home screen and it will direct you to the in-app swapping window.

From here you can select which coin you want to trade, and the other day our newsdesk swapped $6 worth of BCH for 6 tethers. The swapping feature shows a live exchange rate for BCH and the price per tether as well.

We simply chose BCH and USDT swap and selected the receiving wallet, which displays the wallet’s Simple Ledger Protocol address. The minimum of bitcoin cash (BCH) needed to complete a swap is 0.003934997 BCH. After selecting the amount of tether, simply press “confirm and swap” to initiate the process.

The software lets you know that the swap is taking place on the Sideshift application, and the wallet also sends a message to you via the notifications section. Sideshift gives you an invoice number and the notification lets you know the process started.

After the funds are confirmed on the BCH blockchain, the tokens are sent to the SLP-token address. From here the USDT tokens will be accounted for in the portfolio balance section under stablecoins, and tallied up with the total value of all the crypto assets held in the wallet.

Bitcoin.com has always provided top-notch products and services that give people lots of exposure to the innovative crypto ecosystem. Allowing users to hedge stablecoins and swap BCH or BTC for coins like USDT and USDH with ease, gives users far more control over their investments.

What do you think about the ability to swap coins for SLP-based tether (USDT) using the Bitcoin.com Wallet? Let us know in the comments section below.
